Gordon Smith retires as Chair of Manfeild Park Trust
After nearly six years as Chair of the Manfeild Park Trust Board, Gordon Smith has retired, and the search is on for a new Chair.
In his time as the trust chair, Manfeild has become profitable and attracted several key events to the venue that have benefited the District and the wider region, as well as the National Driver Training Centre.
Manawatū District Mayor Helen Worboys and spokesperson for the Manfeild settlors says that Smith has contributed positively in his position as Chair and he leaves Manfeild in a strong position.
“Gordon has done an incredible job in his time as Chair. His efforts are greatly appreciated by the settlors, and we wish him all the best in his retirement”.
While the search for a new Chair takes place, Hamish Waugh, General Manager for Infrastructure at Manawatū District Council, will fill the position in the interim.
Hamish also has a wealth of governance, private sector, and community experience to bring to this role and will be a welcome addition to the board until a permanent Chair is appointed.
